Windows Vista(The big setup revealed)
Vista Official release date has been announced. Microsoft has set November 30 as the release date for Vista (and Office 2007) to business customers and January 30, 2007 as the date for the official launch to consumers and The World At Large.
Five years, three months and five days after Windows XP made its debut, Microsoft will usher its next-generation OS onto the stage
Now I'm seriously confused about the whole windows vista thingy, because as far as I know an Operating system is supposed help users interact with machines ie. computers. But Vista seems defy this rule. Cuz vista won't work in my computer not unless I do their recommended upgrade.
For those who are unaware of the minimum requirements of vista. Here it is
A modern processor (at least 800MHz)
512 MB of system memory
A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable
But this is for the basic edition, which doesn't have most of the features. If you want to truly experience all the features like aero etc. then the recommended configuration is a bit on the higher side.
1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 GB of system memory
Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum), Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel
40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space
DVD-ROM Drive
Audio output capability.
Internet access capability
To check whether your system can install the vista os, microsoft people have come up with new software called Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor RC. And just as I feared my computer is not fit for vista. I think microsoft may have to rethink the marketing strategy for vista.
people usually upgrade only when they have to do something more than just opening a notepad, but when vista releases people have to upgrade even to open a notepad ;)
UPDATE: Microsoft has teamed up with PC vendors to promote the delayed Vista OS by offering PC buyers worldwide a free upgrade coupon, as a way of encouraging them to buy a Vista-capable PC as early as possible, according to market sources, citing information leaked from Taiwan-based PC makers.
