Trombetas (LONG: 01° 54` S LAT 055° 38`W)
A Small port project in Amazonas state in northern Brazil for bauxite. It is situated in the Rio Trombetas a small branch of Rio Amazonas. The river mouth of Rio Trombetas is between Pta. Morera Aca and Mt. Maria Tereza. The depth in Rio Trombetas is around 20 to 25 meters but less in dry season (October to December). The nearest town is Obidos, which is just a mile or two from the Rio Trombetas river mouth.

The only ships which come to Trombetas are the bulk carriers to load bauxite. The population is about 5000 mostly workers in the port and related to port. There are small restaurants and clubs for the local public, but nothing much for tourists. The nearest cities are Manaus and Belem and only way you can reach these places are through boats unless you are rich enough to hire a helicopter.
There is a nice club & restaurant in Trombetas for the local people to chill out.
