PERFUMES
Perfumes
"Perfume is associated in many cultures with the sensual and romantic side of life."
Perfumes are made from animal extracts, plant extracts and now a days derived from chemical. Alcohol and water are the other main compounds in perfume. Another form of perfumes are fragrance oils which has oil as the compound in the place of water. In perfumes fragrances are divided in to floral, spicy, woody, herbal, musky, powdery these categories. Also there are fragrances which have the combination between these fragrances. Some top selling brands in perfumes are floral, Oriental, Citrus, chypre, Green, Fougere .But now you can create customized perfume blends and re-create favorite commercial perfumes at a fraction of their retail price. Perfume oil is necessarily diluted with a solvent because undiluted oils (natural or synthetic) contain high concentrations of volatile components that will likely result in allergic reactions and possibly injury when applied directly to skin or clothing. Solvents also vaporize the essential oils, helping to diffuse them into the air.
Types of Perfumes
Perfume
The most concentrated form of fragrance oil also expensive, perfume is the strongest and longest-lasting of fragrance forms and may contain several hundred ingredients. It contains 20 to 50 percent perfume compound.
Eau de parfum
An alcoholic perfume solution containing 10 to 15 percent of perfume compound.
Eau de toilette (cologne)
Cologne is a light form of a specific fragrance with a 3 to 8 percent concentration of perfume compound in an alcohol water base. Cologne is less concentrated that Eau de Parfum. It is created with a lighter concentration of fragrance oil, and is ideal for a more subtle impression.
The word perfume comes from the Latin phrase, "per" meaning "through" and "fumus" meaning smoke." French gave the name perfume. Egyptians was the godfathers of perfumes. Some wear it to attract mates, while others consider perfume for its relaxing and refreshing scent. Whatever the purpose is, perfume truly holds a special place in every man and woman’s heart.
Musk
Musk was traditionally taken from the male musk deer Moschus moschiferus. This requires the killing of the animal in the process. Although the musk pod is produced only by a young male deer, musk hunters usually did not discriminate between the age and sex of the deers. Due to the high demand of musk and indiscriminate hunting, populations were severely depleted. As a result, the deer is now protected by law and international trade of musk from Moschus moschiferus is prohibited. Nowadays lots of quality synthetic musk is available in the market. The fragrance companies are also taking keen interest in synthetic musks for producing perfumes.
